Book Study- Part One

I think I relate most with Kim because going to Finland meant a lot to her. Kim family didn't/couldn't afford the trip to Finland because it was very expensive. I relate mostly to her because she is hardworking and dedicated. Kim's dream was to go to Finland to experience their education system and she made that happen. Kim received a scholarship and then she sold stuff to raise money to for her trip. Her goal was to go to Finland and she found a way possible to go, that's what I call hardworking and dedication I think all three schools have their good and bad qualities. I don't think we can judge those qualities though because each country is drastically different. Every country view education differently, so therefore each school in those country's and how they learn in those school are going to be different. I don't think putting Finland, South Korea, or Poland education systems in the United States would work well because once again our culture and view on education is different.

Thinglink

My web tool is Thinglink.

Thinglink is an app for IOS and Android.

Here is a tutorial on how to use Thinglink:

Creating Account:
  1. Before you can start using Thinglink, you have to make an account. Type in the address bar “http://www.thinglink.com” . Once you get on the Thinglink website, in the right corner of the page is the “Create An Account”, there you will need your email, a password, and you will also answer the question “I am a” and choose one in the drop down box. After you have filled out the information click the “Continue Registration” button.

  1. After clicking the button, it will bring you to another page where you are required to enter your name in the box. If you have an invite code, you will place that here in the box also. After that there is a box you can click on if you wish to receive newsletters from Thinglink. After finishing step two click the blue button that says “Register For Free!”

Extra Information About Thinglink:
On Thinglink it is free till a certain point, then it cost money. When you upgrade your account you can do different things like, safe and secure browsing,Desktop, IOS, and Android, full screen presentations, and customization. It cost $35 a year, but theres a discount for school districts and schools. This site dose not require parent permission, because the students are linked to my account with a group code. There is also no age restrictions.

In the Classroom:
There are many different ways Thinglink could be used in the classroom, here are few:
  • You could use it for history, by putting links, pictures, and videos to teach an event.
  • You could use it for Science, I saw a example of the solar system with links to videos for each plannet
  • You could use it in math, most of the time the flipped classroom is in math, so you could link different video, and an assignment.
  • You could use it in a book club for class. you could put different links to book trailers, a link to a list of book to choose from.
  • A student could use this to present different information.
